New Site New Blog

March 31, 2010

The old version of Mekonta wasn't really working for me. Design-wise I liked it, but at the same time not totally convinced it was the right design to best present myself as a friendly, approachable web designer for hire. Plus it really didn't put enough focus on my portfolio of work - it was targeted way too much on the blog.

If I was a conscientious and regular blogger this might have been fine. But most of the time it comes down to a choice between doing some actual web design work and getting a new website built, or writing a blog post. Understandably, the paying work almost always wins out! Plus, the blog template I had was focused very much on publishing longer articles. Each entry had it's own page and a short 2 paragraph post just looked ridiculous.

This new format is intended to let me post short updates, which hopefully will make it happen more regularly. But as the blog section is now less prominent on the site, be less noteable, if it isn't updated regularly.
